Introduction
Honeywell required a hard-wearing slip resistant industrial floor for the Goods In and Goods Out areas at their Cheshire site. Following the successful performance of an earlier Elgood installation completed in 2006, the client selected Elgood Industrial Flooring once again to refurbish 265 m² of floor with a 1000 solvent free high-build epoxy coating in Charcoal. The project was completed in just three days over a Bank Holiday, delivering a durable industrial floor designed to cope with regular forklift truck traffic.
Background
At busy goods in and goods out areas, industrial floors face repeated wear from forklift trucks, pallet movement and heavy day-to-day traffic. Honeywell needed a floor that would provide dependable slip resistance while also standing up to the practical demands of an active operational environment.
The existing floor had already seen significant use and the screed was gouged, worn and damaged in places. Although the floor remained serviceable overall, localised defects and the condition of the existing paint meant that a proper refurbishment was needed to restore both durability and safety.
Having already seen good results from a previous Elgood installation at the same site, Honeywell returned to Elgood Industrial Flooring for a proven solution manufactured and installed entirely in-house.
The Challenge
The project needed to address several clear requirements:
- Refurbish 265 m² of floor in active goods in and goods out areas
- Remove the existing paint and prepare the concrete properly for a new industrial floor coating
- Repair gouged, worn and damaged screed areas to provide a more even wearing surface
- Deliver a hard-wearing slip resistant finish suitable for regular forklift truck traffic
- Complete the work quickly over a Bank Holiday to minimise disruption to operations
The Solution
Elgood Industrial Flooring specified and installed a complete epoxy flooring refurbishment designed around durability and slip resistance.
Key elements of the solution included:
- Dust free shot-blasting
Dust free shot-blasting was used to remove the existing paint and to clean and prepare the concrete. This created a strong physical key for the new epoxy floor coating while keeping dust under control during the preparation process. - Local screed repairs
The existing screed had been gouged, worn and damaged in places. These defective patches were cut back to a sound edge, prepared thoroughly and then filled to create a more even and reliable wearing surface before the coating was applied. - 1000 solvent free high-build epoxy floor coating
Honeywell selected Elgood Industrial Flooring’s 1000 solvent free high-build epoxy floor coating with a medium grade slip resistant finish. Applied at approximately 2 mm thickness, this system was chosen specifically to provide the durability and underfoot performance needed for forklift truck traffic in goods movement areas. - Charcoal finish
The industrial floor was finished in Charcoal, giving the area a clean, professional appearance while still being practical for everyday warehouse and logistics use. - Fast Bank Holiday programme
The full installation was completed in three days over a Bank Holiday, helping Honeywell reduce disruption and return the area to use quickly.
All works were manufactured, prepared and installed entirely by Elgood Industrial Flooring, ensuring consistent workmanship and a single point of responsibility from start to finish.

The completed industrial floor refurbishment provided Honeywell with a durable and professional flooring solution for their Cheshire site:
