Industrial Floor Coating for Adam Equipment – Epoxy Flooring Case Study, Milton Keynes

Introduction

Adam Equipment required a hard-wearing industrial floor coating for its new larger premises in Milton Keynes. Having previously used Elgood Industrial Flooring’s Britdura 750 solvent free epoxy coating in 1997, with the floor remaining in good serviceable condition and requiring no maintenance over the following 16 years, Adam selected Elgood again for the new facility. The project covered 1,550 m² and involved preparing the concrete floor by vacuum contained shot-blasting before installing a Britdura 750 high-build solvent free epoxy floor coating in Dusty Blue with a built-in fine slip resistant finish, all completed in a single four-day phase.

Background

Adam Equipment had already seen the long-term performance of Elgood Industrial Flooring’s Britdura 750 system in their previous facility. Installed in 1997, that original floor remained in good serviceable condition 16 years later and had required no maintenance, giving the client strong confidence in both the product and the installation team.

When Adam relocated to a new larger premises in Milton Keynes, Elgood Industrial Flooring was the natural first choice to treat the new floor. The aim was to provide the same dependable long-term performance while also giving the new building a clean, professional and easy-to-maintain industrial floor finish.

As British manufacturers and installers with more than 125 years of industrial flooring experience, Elgood Industrial Flooring was able to provide a complete in-house solution from preparation through to manufacture and installation of the coating system.

The Challenge

The project needed to meet several clear requirements:

  • Install a durable industrial floor coating across 1,550 m² of concrete floor
  • Work over a floor that was in satisfactory condition but already had a coating in some areas
  • Provide a hard-wearing finish that would offer long-term service with minimal maintenance
  • Deliver a fine slip resistant texture suitable for use with scrubber dryer machines
  • Complete the project in a single phase over four days to suit the relocation programme

The Solution

Elgood Industrial Flooring specified and installed a complete Britdura 750 high-build solvent free epoxy flooring system for Adam Equipment’s new Milton Keynes premises.

Key elements of the solution included:

  • Vacuum contained shot-blasting
The floor was prepared using vacuum contained shot-blasting. This cleaned the concrete, removed weak surface material and provided the correct mechanical key for strong adhesion of the new epoxy floor coating.
  • Britdura 750 solvent free epoxy floor coating
Adam Equipment selected Elgood Industrial Flooring’s Britdura 750 solvent free epoxy floor coating, a proven high-build system designed for long-term industrial use.
  • Scratch trowel and roller application
The coating was applied by scratch trowel and roller to a finished thickness of approximately 750 microns. This method helped create an even, durable and consistent industrial floor finish across the full area.
  • Dusty Blue finish
The floor was finished in Dusty Blue, providing a smart and distinctive industrial floor appearance that suited the new larger facility.
  • Fine slip resistant texture
The finished coating included a built-in fine slip resistant texture, making it ideal for use with scrubber dryer machines and helping to balance day-to-day safety with straightforward cleaning and maintenance.
  • Single-source installation
The floor was manufactured, prepared and installed entirely by Elgood Industrial Flooring, giving Adam Equipment a single point of responsibility throughout the project.

Outcome

The completed industrial floor coating provided Adam Equipment with a durable and reliable industrial floor for its Milton Keynes facility:

  • A 1,550 m² Britdura 750 high-build solvent free epoxy industrial floor coating
  • A hard-wearing floor designed for long-term industrial use
  • A Dusty Blue finish that improves presentation and gives the new premises a clean, professional look
  • A built-in fine slip resistant texture that supports safe use and easy cleaning with scrubber dryer machines
  • A project completed in one four-day phase to suit the relocation programme
  • Continued confidence in a flooring system that had already proved its value over 16 years in the client’s previous facility

By combining vacuum contained shot-blasting with a proven Britdura 750 epoxy flooring system, Elgood Industrial Flooring delivered a long-lasting, attractive and practical industrial floor that supported Adam Equipment’s move to new larger premises in Milton Keynes.
