Introduction
Hartridge required a high-performance industrial floor coating for its newly built facility in Buckingham. The project covered 2,000 m² of new power floated concrete and formed the first stage of the fit-out programme, so the floor needed to deliver both durability and a strong visual impression from the outset. Elgood Industrial Flooring was appointed to prepare the slab and install a Britdura 750 high-build solvent free epoxy floor coating in Green Beige RAL 1000, creating a hard-wearing, fine slip resistant industrial floor completed in just four days.
Background
Hartridge wanted more than a standard factory floor for its new Buckingham facility. The business was focused on achieving a high standard of appearance that would complement the wider fit-out, while still providing a practical surface capable of withstanding workplace demands.
Because the project involved a newly built unit, the floor would set the tone for the rest of the building. Colour selection was therefore an important part of the specification. Elgood Industrial Flooring was able to support this by producing colour samples outside the standard stock range, allowing Hartridge to make a more informed and tailored choice for the new environment.

The Challenge
The project needed to meet several clear requirements:
- Install a durable industrial floor coating over a new 2,000 m² power floated concrete slab
- Deliver a hard-wearing finish suitable for day-to-day workplace use
- Achieve a high standard of appearance that would complement the fit-out of a newly built facility
- Provide a bespoke floor colour rather than relying only on standard stock colours
- Ensure good opacity and visual consistency despite the use of a very light floor colour
- Complete the installation in just four days so the fit-out programme could continue on schedule
The Solution
Elgood Industrial Flooring specified and installed a complete Britdura 750 high-build solvent free epoxy flooring system tailored to Hartridge’s operational and visual requirements.
Key elements of the solution included:
- Dust free shot-blasting and edge preparation
The new concrete slab was lightly keyed using dust free shot-blasting to create the correct surface profile for coating adhesion. Edges and perimeter areas were prepared using diamond grinding to ensure a consistent standard of preparation across the whole floor. - Bespoke colour sampling
Hartridge placed great importance on choosing the right floor colour for the new facility. Elgood offered a choice of colours outside the normal stock range and manufactured samples of five selected shades for review. From these, Hartridge chose Green Beige RAL 1000. - Britdura 750 high-build epoxy floor coating
Hartridge selected Elgood Industrial Flooring’s Britdura 750 solvent free high-build epoxy floor coating after reviewing a number of alternative systems. The coating was applied by trowel to achieve an even, durable build suitable for industrial use. - Three coloured coats for strong opacity
Because very light floor colours can sometimes present opacity issues, Elgood adjusted the specification to ensure a consistent finish. Instead of the standard clear primer coat followed by two coloured coats, the floor received three coloured coats to achieve the required depth of colour and visual uniformity. - Fine slip resistant finish
The completed floor was given a fine slip resistant finish, providing day-to-day safety while remaining easy to clean and maintain. - Fit-out support after installation
As the floor was the first stage of the overall fit-out programme, Elgood also agreed to return to site to carry out minor repairs if the floor was damaged by other contractors during the fit-out period.
All works were completed by Elgood Industrial Flooring’s own in-house installation team, ensuring consistent workmanship and a single point of responsibility throughout the project.
