Background
Apex Ltd needed an industrial floor that would support the practical demands of an engineering environment. The facility required a floor coating that was cost-effective, hard-wearing and suitable for regular forklift movement, while also being straightforward to clean and maintain.

The Solution
Elgood Industrial Flooring specified and installed a complete Britdura 500 solvent free epoxy flooring system for Apex Ltd in West Yorkshire.
Key elements of the solution included:
Dust free shotblasting
Dust free shotblasting was used to provide a light physical key to the new floor. This preparation method profiled the surface and created the correct base for strong adhesion of the new industrial floor coating.
Diamond grinding to edges
Diamond grinding was used to prepare the floor edges. This helped ensure the epoxy coating could be installed consistently across the full area, including perimeter sections and detailed edges.
Britdura 500 solvent free epoxy floor coating
Apex Ltd selected Elgood Industrial Flooring’s Britdura 500 solvent free epoxy floor coating. The system was applied using a scratch trowel technique to create a practical, sealed and hard-wearing industrial floor finish.
The Britdura 500 system was well suited to the brief because it provided a cost-effective epoxy floor coating with the durability needed for an engineering environment with forklift traffic.
Slate Grey floor finish
The floor was finished in Slate Grey, giving the facility a clean and professional appearance while providing a practical colour choice for an active industrial setting.
Fine slip resistant surface
The coating included a fine slip resistant finish. This improved safety underfoot while still allowing the floor to be cleaned easily using scrubber dryer machines and Elgood’s epoxy floor detergent cleaner.
