Introduction
Fagioli PSC required a cost-effective, hard-wearing industrial floor coating for its new facility in Iver, Buckinghamshire. As specialists in worldwide heavy lifting and transportation services for the civil, offshore, power and petrochemical sectors, the business needed a floor that would complement the impressive appearance of the new building while also delivering long-term durability. Elgood Industrial Flooring was appointed to prepare the new power floated concrete slab and install a Britdura 750 high-build solvent free epoxy floor coating in Dusty Blue with a fine slip resistant finish, completing the full project in one phase over four days and leaving the floor ready for use on the fifth day.
Background
Fagioli PSC operates in demanding industrial sectors where presentation, reliability and practicality all matter. For their new facility in Iver, the business wanted an industrial floor that would create the right first impression while also standing up to day-to-day use.
Because the floor formed part of a newly developed site, it was important that the finish looked professional from day one and offered a durable, easy-to-maintain surface for the long term. Elgood Industrial Flooring was selected after a competitive tender process to manufacture and install the floor coating, providing a complete in-house solution from preparation through to final finishing.
The Challenge
The project needed to meet several clear requirements:
- Install a durable industrial floor coating over a new smooth power floated concrete floor
- Provide a cost-effective solution that still delivered a strong visual finish for a new facility
- Create a hard-wearing surface suitable for industrial use
- Ensure the floor was easy to clean and maintain over time
- Complete the full installation quickly so the facility could be brought into use without delay
The Solution
Elgood Industrial Flooring specified and installed a complete Britdura 750 high-build solvent free epoxy flooring system tailored to the needs of Fagioli PSC’s new Buckinghamshire facility.
Key elements of the solution included:
- Dust free shot-blasting
Dust free shot-blasting was used to provide a light physical key to the new power floated concrete slab. This preparation method cleaned the floor and created the correct surface profile for strong adhesion of the epoxy system. - Britdura 750 high-build solvent free epoxy floor coating
Fagioli PSC selected Elgood Industrial Flooring’s Britdura 750 high-build solvent free epoxy floor coating. This system is applied by trowel to a finished thickness of approximately 1 millimetre, creating a durable and hard-wearing industrial floor finish suited to new-build industrial environments. - Dusty Blue floor finish
The floor was finished in Dusty Blue, giving the new facility a smart, visually impressive appearance that complements the rest of the building and helps reinforce a professional working environment. - Fine slip resistant texture
The completed coating has a fine slip resistant finish, improving underfoot safety while still allowing the floor to be cleaned easily using scrubber/dryer machines and appropriate epoxy floor cleaning products.
All works were completed by Elgood Industrial Flooring’s own in-house installation team, ensuring consistent workmanship and a single point of responsibility from preparation through to completion.
Outcome
The completed industrial floor coating provided Fagioli PSC with a durable and visually impressive floor for their new Iver facility:
- A 1,350 m² Britdura 750 high-build solvent free epoxy industrial floor coating
- A hard-wearing surface installed over new power floated concrete
- A Dusty Blue finish that complements the appearance of the new facility
- A fine slip resistant texture that supports day-to-day safety and easy cleaning
- A fast one-phase installation completed in four days, ready for use on the fifth day
