Introduction
Following the installation of the UK’s largest new 970 m² multi camera television studio floor for BBC Studioworks at Kelvin Hall in 2022, Elgood Industrial Flooring was asked to return and upgrade the Backlot / Turnaround area. This external-facing support space in Glasgow required a robust, easy-to-clean and visually improved industrial floor that could cope with set movements, storage, vehicle traffic and day-to-day operational wear. Elgood designed and installed a hard wearing solvent free high-build epoxy industrial floor coating across 410 m², protecting the concrete slab and enhancing the appearance of the Backlot.
Background
Kelvin Hall in Glasgow is home to a major BBC Studioworks facility, with large multi camera studios supported by adjacent Backlot and turnaround areas. These spaces are essential for sets, props, deliveries and vehicle movements, and therefore demand a resilient industrial floor that can handle heavy use while remaining presentable for clients and visiting productions.
